GUEST POST: The Skirt, Musiclover25

About me:
Hi, I’m Musiclover25, and I blog at Musiclover25.wordpress.com. I have keen interests in fashion and books. I also report for some rural magazines. When writing this post, female teens were being ridiculed in Newspapers, so I based it on those; hope you enjoy x
The skirt: From humble to hated:
We all know what the skirt is-a piece of clothing, worn by females, and belted t the waist. We may love it. We may hate it. Or, we may just wear it because it’s there. However, as the fashion industry comes and goes, its length is forever changing. It is also up to personal preference. But is the skirt as critized as it should be??

As part of a dress, you have a skirt at the bottom. In recent years, a new creation from the market is the mini dress-basic super short dresses.  They are mainly worn by the teenage market, and are widely asked for. But dresses haven’t always been this way, with a short skirt. In the Victorian era (1837-1901) a lady had to cover her legs fully, or be considered a disgrace to society.

At the turn of 2013 , the ideal length for the skirt was between mid-calf length to a Nano length. Queen Victoria would not have been amused. But it seem skirt shortening has been rampant before-and Jacqueline Wilson knows! In her second biography “My secret diary”, she depicts a scene about shortening her skirts in year nine, under the chapter of clothes. The memoir was of 1969. When she was 14.
If a skirt is to short, it can look tacky to the eyes of adults. It may also lead you into trouble, at work or with men. But surely if it is of a decent length , it is not to frowned upon?
